Memorial Day Weekend Fred & Trudy Vermeulen

Trudy and I were among the beneficiaries of those who gave their lives during WWII. We have walked among those crosses and stars of David, many times. Once with a friend from Pennsylvania, who spent many nights in a lumber yard, only 2 or 3 miles from where my family and I were during an evacuation. He was there with 3 buddies, whom he never saw again after a battle.

Just yesterday we received word of the death of one of the Lord’s servants. He has served many years in Europe to reach Europeans for Christ. Just like so many, who during that war, had seen a continent under the rule of Satan and in need of the Freedom in Christ. They came back, after the war, to reach Europeans, and train them to reach others.

That is how Trudy and I were reached. And, in turn, we have had the privilege of reaching others.

Samaritan’s Purse

For months, Samaritan’s Purse had been on the frontlines in the fight against the pandemic in New York City and Cremona, Italy.

Francesco came to our Hospital in Italy in critical condition. He was unable to breathe on his own and required a ventilator to keep him alive. As the medical staff cared for him, prayed for him, and showed him the compassion of Christ, his condition steadily improved. He wept when the medical staff was finally able to tell him he was out of danger. Most importantly, Francesco saw that something was different about the care that he received from our team. Because of that, God opened a door for us to share the Gospel with him, and he prayed to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. “I am the living proof that prayer works and Jesus saves,” he said.

Over 90 percent of our patients in New York City have survived. One nurse described the day that one of her patients was discharged: “He asked me why I was here and about my faith, and he told me he wanted to be a Christian, too. So I had gotten to be the one to pray with him to accept Jesus, and then he was transferred to another ward because he was doing better. I was really happy when they told me he had asked for me to be the one to walk him out when he was discharged. This was so exciting, to see a new believer go back out into the world with such a powerful testimony”

Women's Retreat - Cozy Mountain Lodge
At the end of February, the ladies of CBC spent the day together at a mountain theme retreat studying the book of Ruth and encouraging one another. The day included large and small group discussion and reading, individual study time, prayer and worship. It was a great day of fellowship and time in the word. A slideshow was put together from the day for everyone to enjoy!
