Elders
We believe that the New Testament presents clear evidence that the care of each local church
was committed to a plurality of elders with the help of deacons. The biblical principles for this
structure are helpfully summarized by the first five chapters of Biblical Eldership: An Urgent
Call to Restore Biblical Leadership by Alexander Strauch: Pastoral Leadership, Shared
Leadership, Male Leadership, Qualified Leadership, and Servant Leadership.
Deacons
Deacons are appointed to serve the church under the direction of the elders. We
understand that deacons are both ministers of mercy to help the body meet physical needs and
servants of the church to assist the elders.
